The roots of Big D Cruisers reach back to the summer of 2000 when a couple of lucky PT Cruiser owners met at a Sonic Drive-in in Plano, Texas. Through word of mouth, E-mail, and with the help of local Chrysler dealers, news of this group of enthusiasts spread to other PT Cruiser owners, and to those waiting for their Cruisers to arrive. The group grew and became an independent, non-profit club known as the Big D Cruisers that serves PT Cruiser enthusiasts residing in the Dallas area. However, some regular members reside as far away as Wichita Falls, Hillsboro and Canton..

The purpose of the Club is to foster friendship and camaraderie among individuals with a common interest in the Chrysler PT Cruiser. The Club accomplishes this purpose through regularly scheduled meetings and special events.

The Club meets on the second Saturday of each month for a Meet and Greet. These meetings occur at various Dallas area locations in the afternoon or evening. At these events, members and prospective members gather to show their Cruisers, engage in conversation, enjoy a meal together and discuss upcoming events. Local vendors often provide door prizes for these events, and are sometimes on hand to sell and install PT Cruiser accessories. Prospective members can join the club at the meet and greet events. Special events occur throughout the year. Past events have included pool parties, progressive dinner cruises, Oldies Fest cruises, Arbor Day Fest cruises, car shows, parades, Santas Helper cruises, Holiday Lights cruises, Bossier City Casino cruises, Fredricksburg, and October Fest Cruises. We have also attended events in Houston, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City. The staff and members of the Club are always coming up with new and interesting events for Club members to enjoy, and some of our special events provide a benefit to charitable organizations.

Annual membership in the Club is $25.00 for a single member and $35.00 for a couple and is open to all PT Cruiser enthusiasts. Membership includes a name badge, inclusion on our E-mail distribution list, a car sticker, a membership certificate, reduced rates for Big D special events, and special discounts at Dallas Dodge, Dallas, Texas; our official dealership sponsor. Many of our members are also members of other PT Cruiser car clubs and other enthusiast car clubs. Members of the Club are not limited to those enthusiasts who like to modify their Cruisers. Many of our members prefer to keep their Cruisers in stock form and enjoy them as Chrysler intended. However, if hot rodding is your bag, you will find members with Cruisers at all levels of modification, from mild to wild.
